$35 PER TEST SET-UP for all brown and black belt tests AND cross-certification evaluations. This includes sending you a hard copy of your certificate of rank via Priority Mail in the U.S. ONLY. There is an extra charge for international mailing of any certificates.
This fee must be paid EACH TIME a brown or black belt test or a cross-certification evaluation has to be designed for you. Hopefully you will follow all of the directions correctly the first time so you only have to pay one set-up fee. Most people do it right the first time.
When you are promoted to any rank, up through 4th kyu, you will receive a PDF version of your promotional certificate which you can print up yourself if you wish. If you would like an actual “hard copy” certificate mailed to you you will have to pay for Priority Mail postage [$10.35 in the US].
If you are receiving an honorary promotion — 5th or 6th dan and up — there is no “set-up” fee as above, but you will still have to pay the certificate mailing fee to receive a copy of your certificate of rank.
If you live in a foreign country and want a “hard copy” certificate mailed to you for ANY rank you have earned, there is a fee to mail it Priority International, the only relatively safe way to send it. Priority Mail fees for other countries are posted to the right [under “Choose One”] and are subject to change. Excess s&h fees will be refunded via PayPal.
AJA membership is available ONLY to current BJJY members and is for the calendar year [January-December]. ALL BJJY members in the U.S., Sankyu & higher grade, MUST have an AJA membership prior to any promotion to sankyu or higher rank. AJA membership is strongly recommended for non-U.S. members as well so that you can secure AJA certificates of rank for sankyu and higher ranks ONLY, [at an additional nominal fee]. Purchase of just an AJA membership does NOT automatically include an AJA emblem/patch!
The current charge for your annual AJA fee on this website is $25 per calendar year [plus s&h].
